Material properties of polyamidimide (PAI)

PAI is a very rigid plastic with an extremely low tendency to creep and maximum mechanical strength at a very high upper service temperature limit in air (permanently from -200 to +250 °C, briefly up to +270 °C) as well as excellent sliding and wear properties.

PAI offers excellent friction and wear behavior (especially PAI SL PLUS) with outstanding UV resistance, as well as exceptional resistance to high-energy radiation (gamma and X-rays).

PAI SL (PAI + TiO2 + PTFE), ochre

This type offers the highest toughness and impact strength of all polyamide imides. Due to its inherent high temperature resistance, high dimensional stability and good machinability, this extruded PAI grade is very popular for precision parts in high-tech equipment. In addition, its good electrical insulating properties offer numerous applications in the field of electrical components.

PAI SL PLUS (PAI + graphite + PTFE), black

The addition of graphite and PTFE results in a higher wear resistance and a lower coefficient of sliding friction compared to the unfilled type. This material also offers excellent dimensional stability over a wide temperature range. This type is characterised in applications with high wear stresses such as dry sliding elements, seals, bearing cages and parts for lifting movements.
