Material properties of polychlortrifluorethylene (PCTFE)

PCTFE (polychlorotrifluoroethylene) is a semi-crystalline polymer that takes the form of a rigid material with a slightly yellowish or white translucent colour or transparent depending on the manufacturing process used. PCTFE has a much greater hardness and dimensional stability than PTFE and is the hardest of all fluoroplastics. Even in the high minus temperature range of - 255 °C it retains its excellent dimensional stability and has the lowest gas permeability rate.

Thanks to its exceptional combination of properties, PCTFE has found its way into numerous industrial sectors such as cryogenics and other applications at very low temperatures, nuclear engineering, chemistry, medicine, military, electrical and electronics, and aerospace.

Other characteristics and properties of PCTFE are its very good mechanical resistance, especially low creep under pressure, the material absorbs practically no moisture and is therefore very dimensionally stable.
