X-Rings - The alternative to O-Rings in light dynamic applications

X-rings (also called four-lip seals) are an alternative to O-rings for use in light dynamic applications. With low compression and pressures, an X-ring can still achieve a high sealing effect because the mould parting line does not coincide with the sealing surfaces.

Advantages of X-Rings

Thanks to the four-lip geometry, the pockets between the sealing lips can absorb lubricant, resulting in significantly reduced friction. In linear applications, the geometry prevents the seal from twisting in the groove and thus damaging the seal. Under normal operating conditions the groove mass of O-rings can be used. By slightly increasing the groove depth, the compression can be reduced. For even lower coefficients of friction, the X-rings can also be surface treated on request.

Application areas of X-rings

X-rings offer advantages especially in light dynamic applications of oscillating or linear movements. Due to their easy assembly and the interesting price/performance ratio, these four-lip seals can be used in almost all industries, such as the fittings industry, on valves, in hydraulics and pneumatics, in the automotive industry or in general plant and machine construction.
