O-Rings in EPDM

Polymers of ethylene propylene diene rubber (EPDM) are completely saturated, non-polar, hydrocarbon-based elastomers. Thanks to its special polymer structure, EPDM has a very good resistance to polar media, even at elevated temperatures.

Advantages of EPDM

EPDM has excellent resistance to polar solvents, hot water and steam, acid and alkaline cleaning agents, ozone and UV radiation. Peroxide-crosslinked EPDM elastomers are suitable for operating temperatures of -55 to 150°C (higher for short periods) and this combined with excellent compression set even over long-term applications.

Application areas of EPDM

Seals made of EPDM have a very wide range of applications and are therefore used in the drinking water, automotive, food, pharmaceutical and process industries - where they have proven themselves in almost all CIP/SIP processes. At a very early stage, Angst+Pfister focused its attention on high-quality peroxide-cross-linked EPDM materials, which have a large number of approvals for drinking water, food and pharmaceuticals.

With the peroxide cross-linked HITEC® EPDM 70.10-02, Angst+Pfister has a particularly high-quality and high-performance material with a large number of approvals, such as:

3-A Sanitary, ACS, ADI free, AS/NZS 4020, BfR XXI, DVGW EN 681, DVGW W 270, DVGW W534, EG 1935/2004, FDA, French Arrete, GB 4806.11-2016, GMC/RES. N° 28/99, KIWA, NSF 51, NSF 61, ÖNORM B 5014, UBA, USP Class VI and WRAS. Please refer to the technical data sheet for more details on approvals. This material has proven successful in numerous applications in the drinking water, pharmaceutical and process industries.

HITEC® EPDM and other EPDM elastomers in various degrees of hardness available from stock

O-rings made of HITEC® EPDM 70.10-02 are permanently available from stock in a wide range of dimensions. Angst+Pfister naturally offers other EPDM elastomers as well, either in other degrees of hardness or specifically designed for special applications.
